I am a woman preoccupied with loafers of late. It’s been brewing for a minute, but spilled over into a full blown obsession. Loafers are definitely having a moment again, showing up in all persuasions during the AW/23 shows and most notable street style moments.
While you may not take certain styles along for more than a season or two, others are timeless and deserve a place in your wardrobe indefinitely.
I wish I would have seen the value of loafers sooner, but I got on the ballet flat trend back in the aughts so at least that’s something!
Here’s a solid roundup of some of my favorite loafers I’m seeing out there at every price point.
**I only featured shoes in this post that have most sizes available. If you’re interested in taking a deep dive, both Net A Porter and Outnet have a great selection of loafers on sale right now in limited sizing. I was thrilled to find a Maison Margiela Tabi in my size.
Enjoy!

$165 Weejun, A good starter loafer for those not sold on a loafer just yet. I find Weejuns a tad preppy for my taste, but the croc pattern and color make it a little more interesting. Since I don’t own a pair, I can’t speak from experience, but many of the Reddit threads say you’ll want to spend some time in the house with a thick pair of socks on breaking these in before wearing them on long walks. The cost dictates the quality here so don’t expect the craftsmanship you’d get with a higher priced brand.
$250 Amie Leon Dore- The two-toned penny loafer (or three in this instance) will achieve high cult status by fall, but I’m not convinced this will be a forever shoe. But for a few seasons, it’s certainly a yes.
$278 MGemi Sacca Donna I like this shoe. I’ve come back to it multiple times. All the colorways are great, but the Navy suede is exceptionally good. I passed on this one personally out of concerns it would be too narrow for my foot. If you don’t have that problem, it’s a great loafer from a brand known for exceptional quality.
$332 (with 20% off 1st time discount) Sarrosso Delfina- If an Italian summer were a shoe, this would be it. I fell in love at first sight. Sadly, they were sold out in my size but are now available for pre-order. I should be receiving mine soon and can’t wait to wear them with everything. *Scarosso has very specific sizing. Take the time to print their size chart and find the right fit.
$525 Jamie Haller Loafer With higher price, comes higher quality. This very small production does a fabulous loafer with no break in time and it’s made with no toe or heel box which is magic for any of us with a wider forefoot.
$675 Tod’s Penny Loafer- Classic Loafer. Classic Brand. Classic Looks.
$920 Gucci Brixton Loafer- The value of a comfortable shoe can not be overstated. This loafer is expensive, yes, but certainly one you will still wear years, maybe even decades from now. I’ve walked mile after mile in this one and can tell you it’s as comfortable as your favorite pair of sneakers.
Lastly, if you are break-in-period averse, as I am, a really good option is to buy a pair of shoe stretchers. They work wonders and take the pain (and blisters) out of the new shoe stage.
